29 May: Junior Conference

On Wednesday 29th of May, Spanish Teacher Association of South Australia held the 2019 Junior Conference, “Por Amor al Medio Ambiente”, it was a day to engage students in an important topic concern in our society – Climate Change!

The conference included a number of workshops revolving around Climate change and Environment Conservation where the students were able to engage with the learning of Spanish language in a fun way by exchanging information, expressing and explaining ideas, developing culture understanding, performing, and practising their language skills.

We had a number of guest speakers including Tom Webster, a crucial organizer of the School Strike 4 Climate  in Adelaide last March; and Laura Carrington, our former President. Thanks to both of them, students had the chance to engage in the Climate Change discussion.

We played Environment Bingo, Made our own Climate badges, and more!

We finished off the conference by signing the song “Quiero Vivir Mejor” and dancing to “El Planera hay que salvar” in celebration of 5th of June, World Environmental Day.

On behalf of STASA, we would like to thank the staff from Open Access College for providing the venue & helping us on the day.

Also, we would like to extend our thanks to all the teachers & students who participated at this year conference, including Adelaide High School, Temple Christian College, Pembroke School, Prospect North Primary School and Seaford Secondary School. We had a great day with all of you!

Muchas Gracias on behalf of Junior Conference Sub Committee,
Elia, Javier, Joaquin, Juana & Valeria
